Celebrate Accessible Earth Month with us! March 28th, 2019
Hi Friend:
As you may already know, April is Earth Month. We’re so excited that we, at the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC), are launching our first Accessible Earth Month in celebration of the collaborative efforts to make environmental conservation efforts accessible for all, including those with disabilities. We want to invite YOU to join the conversation!
In the past year, CFILC has been making strides in educating the public about accessibility as a need when considering solutions to address environmental concerns. In February, CFILC’s Disability Organizing Network teamed up with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Central Coast Center for Independent Living to conduct the nation’s first study on the Disability community’s experiences with alternative straws, especially non-plastic straws.
The Disability community has only recently been more visible in the discussion of sustainability. We encourage you to use our Accessible Earth DIY Toolkit as a resource to share. There are also tips on social media planning and graphics for you to customize for your own Accessible Earth Day images and messages.
